Suzuki- Disk Transmission Brake for SJ & Santana |
|
See
fitting instructions
X-Eng are proud to announce the latest addition
to our X-Brake, disk transmission brake line-up, the X-Brake Suzuki.
It has taken a few months of work and
some help from Ray "Rhino
Ray" Edwards - but we are now able to offer a disk transmission
brake to fit all SJ type transfer boxes.
Rhino Ray is our sole
UK reseller for these and he is able to offer a good value fitting
/ conversion service on our behalf. Phone 01273 696796 for details.

If
you drive off-road, you know how useless the standard transmission
brake can become. Also, the parts are becoming hard to get
hold of through the dealer network. (We have had an SJ handbrake
cable on back order for 2 months now!)
Because of the unavailability of cables, we have incorporated
a conversion to use a Land Rover 200tdi type cable (Part Number
NRC5088). There is one included in the kit and they are easily
available from us or any Land Rover specialist.
The new cable is much stronger than the original and has proved
itself in muddy conditions.
Once fitted, your
new X-Brake will easily hold your Suzuki on a 45 degree slope
and will continue to give supurb holding after a day in the
mud!

To
fit this kit, you will need to source a transfer box output
flange to suit the bolt spacings on your rear prop shaft.
This will most likely be the same as the flange which connects
the transfer box to your front prop.
There
are two different bolt spacings used on Suzuki. Our disk can
be used on either.
It
may also be possible to modify the old drum, cutting it down
to just the flange - but we have not tried this.
If
in doubt, contact a Suzuki Specialist such as Rhino Ray.
Replacement pads are readily available from us. We doubt however
that you will need any for a long time.

| Do
I need to change the handbrake lever? |
|
NO
- The X-Brake Suzuki uses your original operating lever. The
kit includes a bracket which will convert from two cable setups
and / or single cable.
Parts are supplied coated with a tough corrosion resistant
coating of gold Zinc Passivate to ensure a long life. The
Disk is not coated as the brake pads are most efficient gripping
on plain steel. The light rubbing action of the pads quickly
polishes the surface.
Fitting
is easy requiring only simple tools. Full
fitting instructions are included as well as advice
on adjustment and use.

Will
the kit fit Sidekick or Vitara models? |
