Anti-Roll
or Anti-Sway bars are fitted to almost all production vehicles
to enhance handling, cornering & stability - in short,
to improve safety.
However,
anti-roll bars are designed to reduce articulation - which
is the opposite of what most Land Rover owners want!
Production
Land Rovers compromise by fitting a weak anti-roll bar which
improves the handling a bit and doesn't limit the off road
capability too much. The standard bars only allow the rear
axle to droop by 9" (230mm) - so has to be removed on
vehicles with extended travel.
We
have designed X-DeFlex to be unlockable (known as anti roll
bar disconnects in Jeep circles) - so it does not have be
a compromise. Locked it has four times the torsional stiffness
of a standard bar, but unlocked it allows 16" (410mm)
of unrestricted articulation, selectable at the turn of a
switch.
X-DeFlex
dramatically improves the on road handling allowing safer high
speed cornering. If you have a 'daily driver' with uprated suspension,
an overland or camper conversion, an uprated or high performance
engine, and want your vehicle to give you the maximum on AND
off road - this is for you!

Vehicle
lifted with a fork-lift until rear wheel lifts with X-DeFlex
locked. You can see that the rear wheel has lifted before
the front showing that the rear has less flexibility than
a standard front.
Now with
X-DeFlex unlocked. Front wheel has lifted long before rear.
Rear axle is at the full extension of 16" travel shock
absorbers.
Unlocked
(Disconnected) it will allow 16" of suspension travel
without binding or the knuckles inverting.
Locked
(Connected) it will be apply 4x the roll resistance of a
standard defender bar.
Can
be locked and unlocked without the vehicle being level -
it will just change state when the torque on the bar is
relieved as you drive.
Can
be locked or unlocked in seconds without having to lie under
the vehicle or get muddy or for the vehicle to be level.

full 16" travel
We
have designed the kit to use a number of standard Land
Rover parts. This is particularly useful on overland vehicles
- you have a small spares package on board that can be canibalised
if the need arises.
It includes:
1 Drive Flange
2 Left and 2 Right hand thread Track Rod Ends
1 Long rear half-shaft.
All of which could be invaluable in the event of a breakdown
in the middle of nowhere!

Adam's Discovery fitted with X-Deflex
Good
News!
We have just launched a version to fit all Land Rover 90's with
a fuel tank mounted under the seat. Sadly this excludes Td5,
Puma, Anniversary and NAS - but we're on the case!
The 90 Adaptor (sold separately below) can be fitted to any
previous kit to make it fit a suitable 90 model.
Also now listed as separate items below are 30 and 60mm spacers
in case you need a bit more space between your tank and the
torsion bar. These have proven useful for vehicles fitted with
long range tanks. Spacers can be used in conjunction with any
kit including the 90 version.

I
am extremely happy with it. I have not had an opportunity
to use it offroad in its disconnected mode yet, but the improvement
in on-road handling is just amazing.
My
Discovery is obviously very heavy with all the camping equipment
mounted in the back and the load on the roof with that extra
spare wheel, which meant that it was always very loose and
unstable on corners, but now it is like a whole new vehicle.
It just feels so much safer and more responsive to drive,
so that was money well spent. Robert
